Taxi driver basic training is a 21-hour instructor-led online course for new drivers. You can attend remotely from anywhere in Finland. From 1 November 2026, it is required before taking the Finnish taxi driver examination.

- Drivers renewing an existing permit should see the seven-hour refresher course.
From training to a taxi driving permit
- Enroll in an available 21-hour online course and attend the scheduled instructor-led remote classes.
- Receive confirmation of an approved completion under the organizer’s process.
- Book the examination and apply for the permit under the current authority instructions.
According to Traficom, the 21-hour course becomes a prerequisite for new drivers taking the taxi driver examination from 1 November 2026. Check the current information on Traficom’s website.
