Which taxi course do I need?

New drivers should choose the 21-hour basic course, while drivers renewing a permit need the 7-hour refresher course. For special-groups training, the correct option depends on the date your permit was first granted.

Can I attend the training online?

Taxi driver basic and refresher training are delivered as instructor-led remote teaching and can be attended from anywhere in Finland. Special-groups practical teaching is delivered in person in Pori.

How much does special-groups driver training cost?

The full 21-hour course costs 299 euros and the 7-hour practical module costs 129 euros, both excluding VAT. VAT and the stated authority fee are added to these prices.

Where is the training held?

Basic and refresher training can be attended online from anywhere in Finland. Special-groups practical teaching is held in Pori. The exact format is shown with each course date.

How does enrollment work?

Choose a course and an available date, complete the enrollment form and accept the terms. You receive confirmation and an invoice by email before the course.

When does the new Finnish taxi law enter into force?

The law change (HE 15/2026, enacted as 348/2026) enters into force on 1 September 2026. Proof of training is only required when applying for or renewing a taxi driver permit from 1 November 2026.

Who may provide taxi driver training?

According to Traficom, from 1 September 2026 taxi training may only be provided by organisations whose training programmes have been approved by Traficom. The special-groups driver training programme of Iso-Ojan Liikenne Oy is approved by Traficom.
